KAPOLEI, Hawaii ? The University of Kentucky women?s golf team is currently in 16th place after shooting a 318 Tuesday in the first round of the Kent Youel Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii. The Wildcats are being led by sophomore Elizabeth Dotson (White Bluff, Tenn.), who carded a four-over-par 76 in the first round of the event.
No. 8 Southern Cal leads the tournament field after a six-over-par 294 in the opening round of play. USC is four strokes ahead of No. 20 California, which shot a 298. Stanford?s Kelly Husted is the tournament?s individual leader with a three-under-par 69 in the first round.
Dotson currently is in a tie for 18th place, while senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.) is tied for 36th place with an opening-round 78.
Senior Erin Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.) and sophomore Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) both are currently tied for 70th place after firing first-round 82s. Junior Katie Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) is tied for 84th place with an 84.
