The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team returns home this weekend as it opens its final Southeastern Conference homestand of the season. The Wildcats welcome a pair of SEC East foes in Georgia on Friday night, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. and division-leader Tennessee on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex.

The three-game homestand wraps up next Friday, Oct. 21, as the Cats host Mississippi in a 5:00 p.m. contest.

The Wildcats are currently 6-2-6 on the year and 2-2-2 in the SEC after a 2-1 double overtime win at South Carolina in their last outing. The OT win snapped a streak of 13 consecutive overtime games without a win. UK is now 1-0-6 in overtime games this season, while the seven OT games this year ties the school record. The Cats enter the weekend ranked fifth in the SEC East.

UGA brings a 9-4-1 overall record to Lexington, along with a 3-3 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs went 1-1 last weekend with a 1-0 loss before winning at Arkansas by the same score. UK and UGA face off in their 12th meeting all-time. The Bulldogs, who currently rank fourth in the SEC East, lead 6-4-1 in the series. Georgia defeated UK in the last meeting (10/24/04) by a final score of 2-0.

The Lady Vols are currently leading the SEC East with a perfect 6-0 mark in league play. They have won seven straight and are now 8-4-1 overall this season. The Cats and Vols will battle Sunday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. UT leads 7-5 in the all-time series, including a 2-0 win in the opening round of the SEC tournament last season. UK has not defeated the Vols since a 4-2 victory on Nov. 8, 2001, at the SEC tournament.

?We?re coming into the most important part of our season,? said head coach Warren Lipka. ?This is also the most difficult part of our schedule and it?s good to have these two opponents at home.?
