The Kentucky men?s tennis team recorded three victories Saturday at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational.
Senior Carey Rubin and freshman Marcus Sundh won their opening matches of the Flight A Consolation Draw to move on to Sunday?s quarterfinals.
Rubin, a Canton, Ohio, native defeated Georgia Southern?s Lasha Janashia in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
Sundh advanced to his quarterfinal match by defeating Tennessee Tech?s Borja Zarco in straight sets 6-3, 7-5.
In main draw action, freshman Kenny Hodge defeated Southern Mississippi?s Tommy Maestri in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Hodge?s tournament run then ended in the quarterfinals when he lost in straight sets 6-3, 6-0, to Vanderbilt?s Nick Cromydas.
In Kentucky?s only doubles match of the day, the duo of Sundh and Hodge lost a hard fought match to Vanderbilt?s Evan Defaux and Andy Mack in the third tiebreaker 9-8(3).
Rubin and Sundh will continue their play in the Flight A Consolation Draw tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. Fans can check ukathletics.com for a recap of the tournament?s final day.
