CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ? Kentucky sophomore Elizabeth Dotson (White Bluff, Tenn.) shot a second-round 74 Saturday at the Finley Golf Course to lead the Wildcats, but the UK women?s golf team remains in 15th place after 36 holes at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. As a team the Wildcats carded a second-round 302 to bring their two-round total to 625 (323-302).
Dotson currently is in a tie for 37th place with senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.), who shot a 79 on the day. The two each have carded two-round totals of 154.
No. 1 Duke, which captured last season?s event, continues to top the leaderboard with a six-over-par 582 (294-288) after shooting an even-par 288 in the second round. No. 13 Auburn shot a tournament-low 286 in the second round and currently is in second place with a 586 (300-286).
Texas A&M golfer Ashley Knoll fired a tournament-low seven-under-par 65 in the second round Saturday and currently holds the individual lead with an eight-under-par 136 (71-65). Knoll set a new Lady Tar Heel Invitational and Finley Golf Course record for women with her second-round 65. Auburn golfer Maria Martinez, the defending Lady Tar Heel Invite individual champion, is in second with a three-under-par 141 (71-70) over the two rounds.
Kentucky senior Erin Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.) carded a 77 on the day and currently is in a tie for 67th place with a two-round total of 159 (82-77). Junior Emily Culbertson (Crestview Hills, Ky.) and sophomore Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) are both in a tie for 80th place at the tournament with two-round 162s. Culbertson fired a 76 on the day, while Felts shot a 75.
