The 15th-ranked Coventry was beaten by Texas Christian?s Nicole Leimbach 6-2, 7-5. Leimbach is the No. 3 player in the nation.
In doubles, Conventry and Joelle Schwenk fell 8-2 to Stanford?s Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey in the round of 16. Coventry and Schwenk received a bye to the main draw of the Championships.
