The University of Kentucky women?s soccer team continues its season-long four-game road swing this weekend as it travels to take on Southeastern Conference foes No. 21 Florida (7-3-1, 2-1-1 SEC) and South Carolina (4-1, 1-3 SEC). UK is currently 5-1-6 on the year and 1-1-2 in the SEC after suffering its first loss at Auburn last weekend. UK is 0-1-3 on the road this season.
The Cats and Gators face off on Friday, Oct. 7, before heading to take on the Gamecocks on Sunday, Oct. 9. Both games are set for a 2 p.m. start.
This marks the 14th meeting between the Cats and Gators. UF leads 1-11-1 in the all-time series including a 3-0 win in Lexington last season. The Gators currently rank third in the SEC East behind undefeated Vanderbilt and Tennessee.
UK and USC will battle for the 11th time. Kentucky leads the series 8-2 after they topped the Gamecocks 1-0 last year in Lexington. USC is currently sixth in the SEC East and has dropped two straight matches at Georgia and Tennessee.
UK went 0-1-1 in its second week of SEC play with a tie at Alabama and a loss at Auburn. The six ties sets a new SEC and school season record and is one away from the national record set in 2004 by Ball State and Campbell.
?These are two very difficult games against two very difficult opponents,? said head coach Warren Lipka. ?We need to be prepared for a couple of tough matches this weekend.?
