The Kentucky swimming and diving team will open its 2005-06 season Thursday with the annual Blue-White meet. The meet is slated to begin at 3 p.m. at the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
The 45 student-athletes who will consist of this year?s team will be divided up to create the blue and white squads. Seniors Daniel Farnham and Brennan Moore will serve as the coaches for the blue team. The blue team will be facing off against a white team led by senior Steven Manley and junior Nikia Deveaux.
This meet is the first chance for fans to see the Wildcats three returning All-Americans, two returning Southeastern Conference champions and 15 freshmen compete in events that are typically not found in college meets, such as the 150-yard butterfly, the 75-yard individual medley and the 575 Freestyle T-shirt Relay.
Kentucky will open the regular season portion of its schedule on Oct. 14 when the UK women host Illinois. On Oct. 15, both the men and women will compete in the Kentucky Relays at the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
