The Kentucky women?s tennis team was perfect Saturday winning all twelve matches that they competed in at the UK Fall Invitational.
Juniors Kim Coventry and Caroline Winebrenner, as well as senior Danielle Petrisko, all won their semifinal matches in straight sets to advance to the finals of their respective flights.
Junior Lara Maurer, a Bay Village, Ohio, native rebounded from dropping her first set 3-6 to defeat Denver?s Rachel Sackmaster 6-2, 6-4. Maurer will face off against fellow Wildcat teammate Petrisko in the Flight B finals.
Junior Joelle Schwenk defeated Auburn?s Ashley Cowart 6-3, 6-0, and will take on Ohio State?s Julie Blackmore for fifth place in the Flight A singles bracket on Sunday.
Liis Sober advanced to finals of the Flight C backdraw by defeating Alejandro Cuadra of Illinois in three sets 6-1, 6-7, 10-7.
In doubles action, UK?s three teams each swept their day’s two matches. The No. 9 ranked duo of Coventry and Schwenk will take on Middle Tennessee?s Kelly Adams and Marlene Chemin in the finals of the Flight A bracket. In the finals of the Flight B bracket, the duo of Sober and Winebrenner will take on fellow Wildcats Petrisko and Maurer.
The final day of the UK Invitational begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the finals of main draw competition for all four singles flights. Doubles action is scheduled to finish in the afternoon. Fans can check ukathletics.com for recaps of all the day?s action.
