LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky men?s soccer returns to action Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when it welcomes Georgetown College to the UK Soccer Complex.
It is Website Wednesday at the UK Soccer Complex and fans are admitted for $2, $1 for children, with the special coupon that can be printed .
The Wildcats (2-1-1) are looking to rebound from a tough weekend out west, falling to Gonzaga before tying Oregon State. After going a school-record 19 straight games without allowing more than one goal, UK gave up five during the two-game stretch.
?We had a weekend that was very uncharacteristic of us,? Kentucky head coach Ian Collins said. ?We take pride in not giving up goals here and we usually don?t give up five in 10 games. I think it was a real reality check for our team and we?ll come back strong from this.?
However, the Wildcats will not have an easy task going against a Georgetown squad that has tallied 17 goals in its first two games.
?We expect Georgetown to come in here ready to play,? Collins said. ?They have a quality program and our players have learned what can happen if they don?t come ready to play every day.?
Kentucky should reap some benefit from playing at home, where it has blanked four straight opponents and has a 464:11 shutout streak dating back to last year.
Offensively, junior Riley O?Neill (Campbell River, British Columbia/Tiberline) has shouldered the load for UK. He has three of the team?s five goals, including the game-winner against Louisville, and has scored his last two times out. As a team, the Wildcats have not been shutout this year.
Wednesday?s meeting is the fifth between the two schools and first since 2001. Kentucky owns a 4-0 advantage all-time in the series.
