LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky baseball team returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Murray State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

The Wildcats are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Southeastern Conference foe Vanderbilt in which Sunday?s rubber match went into extra innings before the Commodores pulled out the win. At 27-24 overall, the Wildcats are one win shy of clinching at least a .500 season and need just three wins in their final five games to notch their first 30-win season in five years.

Murray State is 25-27 on the year and 13-11 in the Ohio Valley Conference after dropping two of three over the weekend to league leader Jacksonville State. The Thoroughbreds own non-conference wins this year over Missouri and Memphis.

Kentucky will likely send freshman right-hander Alex Jordan to the mound. Jordan is 2-3 on the year with a 6.18 earned-run average and the team has won the last two times he has started. Murray has yet to announce a starting pitcher.

Wildcat junior J.P. Lowen has had the hot bat at the plate for UK recently. Against Vanderbilt, he batted .583 with a pair of doubles and a home run. He also scored three times and drove in three while tallying a pair of three-hit games.

Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two, 5-4, including a 4-1 advantage in Lexington. The Wildcats have won three straight in the series, including last year?s 9-1 victory.

The game is the first of two at home this week for Kentucky, which faces Tennessee Tech on Wednesday. The Wildcats? season concludes this weekend with a three-game series at South Carolina.
