Men's Golf

The Kentucky men?s golf team will host the 2005 UK Derby Invitational this week, May 9-10, at the University Club in Lexington, Ky. Southeastern Conference foe Vanderbilt and East Tennessee State make up the rest of the three-team field.

The Wildcats are coming off a win at the SEC Championships April 15-17 in Sea Island, Ga.

?The UK Derby Invitational has one purpose in mind and that is to help our team, as well as the other participating teams get ready for the NCAA Regionals,? said SEC Coach of the Year Brian Craig. ?We are all coming off of exams and need some competition to get ready for the biggest tournament of the year to date. We are looking forward to hosting Vanderbilt and East Tennessee State University on the wonderful University Club of Kentucky?s Big Blue course.?

This will be the final home tournament for five Wildcat seniors including SEC Golfer of the Year and first team selection John Holmes, second team All-SEC honoree Mark Blakefield, Jack Hudson, Brandon Waldrop and Matt Wells.

The tournament will tee off with an 8:30 a.m. start on Monday, May 9. Tee time is set for 8:10 a.m. for Tuesday?s final 18 holes.
