PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? Kentucky standout Jeff Chakouian placed second in the college men?s shot put championship at the Penn Relays Friday. Chakouian recorded his fifth regional qualifying toss of season with a mark of 63-06.25. Kansas? Sheldon Battle took top honors in the event with a heave of 64-08.50.

Both the men?s 4×400-meter relay and sprint medley relay had troubles hanging on to the baton at Franklin Field Friday. The men?s 4×400-meter squad ran a solid race until the final leg when junior Dedrick Tillerson, battling for third place around the final turn, had the baton knocked from his hand. Tillerson picked up the baton and continued racing, however the incident did not allow the foursome to advance to Saturday?s finals. In the men?s sprint medley relay, the squad once again ran well, however dropped the baton during the third exchange.

Saturday the men?s and women?s squads will compete in the 4×800-meter relay events at 4:20 p.m. EDT and 1:40 p.m. EDT, respectively.
