No. 19 Kentucky will put its six-match win streak on the line Wednesday when it travels to Champaign, Ill., to meet second-ranked Illinois. The match is set for 6 p.m. EDT at the Atkins Tennis Center.

The Cats (15-6, 5-3 SEC) and the Fighting Illini (14-2, 4-0 Big Ten) will meet for the second time this season after meeting on neutral courts earlier this season. Illinois dealt Kentucky a 4-2 defeat in the opening round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago nearly two months ago. Kentucky and Illinois met in a thrilling battle a season ago, as UK came within one set of ending the Illini?s 50-match win streak, falling by a 4-3 count in Lexington.

Kentucky features fourth-ranked senior Jesse Witten, who has won seven-straight matches and 13 of his last 14 singles contests. The Naples, Fla., native owns a 7-1 SEC record at No. 1 singles and has emerged as a leading candidate for SEC Player of the Year. He teams with senior Tigran Martirosyan to form the nation?s 12th-ranked doubles tandem. Junior Alex Hume has had a hot hand as of late, winning his last nine singles matches. Like Witten, Hume also owns a 7-1 SEC record.

The Illini feature fifth-ranked Ryler DeHeart, who has split a couple of battles with Witten this season. DeHeart defeated Witten in the finals of the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships last fall in Ann Arbor, Mich. Witten countered in February with a straight-set win over DeHeart at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Illinois also features 33rd-ranked G.D. Jones and 42nd-ranked Kevin Anderson. DeHeart and Jones form the nation?s eighth-ranked doubles tandem.
