ATHENS, Ga. – Kentucky?s women?s golf team completed first round play at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic Friday at the UGA Golf Course. The Cats finished the day 18th, while host Georgia is currently atop the leaderboard at 10-under-par (298).
The Wildcats fired 327 for the first round, while LSU is two strokes behind Georgia at 301 for day one. Tulane and Wake Forest are tied for third at 13-over-par (301). Auburn rounds out the top-five at 18-over-par (304). A trio of golfers from three schools are tied for first, including Wake Forest?s Ashley Hoagland, Arkansas? Stacy Lewis and Georgia?s Lisa Tyler. The three-some each shot an even first round 72.
Junior Ali Kicklighter and freshman Elizabeth Dotson lead UK, tied for 62nd. The pair fired a first round 81, while sophomore Alanna Silvertrust is tied for 70th after shooting 82 for the first 18 holes. Freshman Beth Felts and sophomore Katie Johnson are both tied for 78th, shooting 83 for day one. Kentucky junior Erin Faulkner, playing as an individual, finished 6-over-par (78) for the first day of play.
The Cats take to the course with tee times begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday. A shotgun start will begin Sunday?s final round at 9 a.m.
