FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. ? University of Kentucky freshman Michael Mason finished 12th in the high jump Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Mason recorded a leap of 6-11 ? in his NCAA debut. Southern California?s Jesse Williams took the men?s high jump title with a mark of 7-5.
The NCAA Indoor Championship titles were decided by a difference of ten points on both sides. Tennessee took the women?s title with 46 points, while Florida captured second-place honors with 36 points. Miami finished a close third with 32 points on the women?s side. Arkansas? men?s team captured its 40th NCAA Championship recording 56 points to Florida?s second-place 46 points. Wisconsin was a close third, recording 43 points. The SEC faired well among the top teams in the country, taking seven top-10 finishes at the championships.
With the conclusion of the indoor season, the Cats turn to the outdoor season, which begins next week in Tempe, Ariz. UK will compete Mar. 18-19 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational hosted by Arizona State.
