LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky baseball team, off to its best start in five years at 9-1, will have 33 of its final 39 games broadcast on the radio, the university athletic department announced Tuesday.
Beginning with Kentucky?s March 18 contest at Alabama, WXRA 1580-AM or WLXO 96.1-FM will carry each of Kentucky?s Southeastern Conference games as well as selected other contests. All postseason games would be carried on WXRA.
The announcement comes at the same time as Host Communications, which holds the broadcast rights for all UK athletics, has hired Neil Price as the voice of the Kentucky baseball and women?s basketball teams.
Price, 24, joins the UK team from a similar post at Middle Tennessee State. With the Blue Raider Network, Price handled baseball and women?s basketball play-by-play duties while serving as the sideline reporter for football games. He also hosted weekly radio shows for the men?s and women?s basketball and football coaches.
In 1999, Price became the youngest person ever to broadcast a junior college national basketball tournament game at age 18.
