GAINESVILLE, Fla.– No. 6 Florida scored 49.000 or higher on each of its four events Friday to defeat the Kentucky Gymnastics squad, 196.925-193.150, in the Stephen C. O?Connell Center. The Gators? Ashley Reed and Breanne King finished first and second, respectively, in the all around with 39.425 and 39.400 scores. UK senior Michelle Gales finished third in all-around competition with a 37.825 mark.

The Wildcats (4-6, 0-6 Southeastern Conference) opened on bars with a 48.275 score, led by sophomore Krystle Cook?s 9.8 mark. Gales followed with a 9.75 on bars. The Gators (10-2, 5-1 SEC) put together a 49.300 on vault in their opening event. UF?s Ashley Reed tallied an event-high 9.925 on vault to begin the meet.

Florida took a strong 98.400-95.975 lead after two events as the Cats tallied a 47.600 on vault in their second rotation. Junior Lucy Burgin led all Wildcats with a 9.775 on vault and freshman Kristen O?Shields added a 9.7 mark. The Gators scored a 49.100 on bars in their second event, as each of their gymnasts scored above a 9.7.

The Wildcats scored an event-high 48.925 on their patented floor exercises in the third rotation. Gales led UK with a 9.875 on floor while sophomore Rachel Riley posted a 9.8. Cook and O?Shields also had strong performances, with 9.775 showings on floor. The Gators recorded a 49.250 on beam heading into the final rotation of the evening.

The Cats finished on the balance beam, recording a 48.250 on the final event of the evening. Burgin led UK with a 9.8 on beam, while O?Shields followed with a 9.775. Bethany Strauch scored a 9.750 on the event to close the meet. Florida tallied a 49.275 on floor in its final routine, led by Tiffany Murry?s 9.925 and Reed?s 9.9.

Kentucky returns to action Sunday as it travels to Lincoln, Neb., to face Nebraska. Meet time is set for 3 p.m. EST and live stats will be available on ukathletics.com.
