Sophomore Krystle Cook is the latest UK ?Gymnast of the Week? as chosen by the coaching staff. Cook?s performances on bars, vault and floor helped Kentucky attain the highest score of the season (195.550) vs. No.3 LSU last weekend. She led the Cats on bars and vault, taking home medalists honors with a second-place finish on vault. Her 9.9 performance on vault led Kentucky to the 10th highest vault score in school history with a 49.100 mark. A 9.825 season-high on bars and 9.8 on floor helped guide the Cats to a stellar performance against a solid SEC team.
?Krystle Cook did a wonderful job on all three of the events that she competed on,? Muhammad said. ?She has showed incredible progress towards believing in herself and is starting to compete like the champion that she is. I am very proud of how she has stepped up and filled the role of anchor on vault and bars. Krystle has also made and impact on floor for us as well.?
The Austin, Texas, native has been a solid competitor for the Cats all season. Cook has recorded two 9.9 or higher marks on vault this season and tallied 9.8 or higher season-highs on both bars and floor.
