LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky women?s golf team completed day one play 11th at the Papa John?s Collegiate Golf Tournament in Miami Lakes, Fla. Freshman Elizabeth Dotson led the Cats with a first round 77 and is tied for 20th in the twelve team field. Miami?s Hagen Weintraub and East Carolina?s Emelie Lind are atop the leaderboard after shooting 2-under-par (70).
Junior Ali Kicklighter is one stroke behind Dotson after a first round 78, while the Cats standout fall performer, Beth Felts fired an uncharacteristic 82 to begin spring play. Senior Katie Dixon and sophomore Marissa Muir both are competing in the third tournament of the year for the Cats and round out UK?s five competitors.
Tournament play on the 6,190 yard, par 72 course will continue Monday with an 8 a.m. start and Tuesday?s final day of play will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Schools joining Kentucky and Miami in the tournament are Alabama, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Louisville, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, UNC Wilmington, South Florida, Southern Mississippi and Virginia.
