The University of Kentucky men?s golf team will open the 2005 spring season this weekend, Feb. 5-6, at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

The two-day tournament opens with two rounds of play on Saturday, Feb. 5, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The second round is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Play concludes on Sunday, Feb. 6, with 18 holes set to begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The Wildcats look to build on a solid fall season where they won a pair of tournament team titles.

?The Gator Invitational is an important event for us as it opens the spring season. This team has a great opportunity to be as good as any team in the nation with the return of Matt Kohn to the lineup,? said head coach Brian Craig. ?Even though the weather has not cooperated a whole lot, we have a veteran team and I am very optimistic that it will not take long to shake the rust off of our games and start the spring season on a positive note.?
