Junior Lucy Burgin is the latest UK ?Gymnast of the Week? as chosen by the coaching staff. The Cats trip down south to Auburn Ala., allowed an excited a group of family and friends to cheer Burgin on as she competed for Kentucky in her home state. A Birmingham, Ala., native, Burgin recorded a pair of firsts, including an SEC debut in the all-around and on beam.

?Lucy has come a long way, having not been able to compete last year because of her transfer situation,? UK head coach Mo Muhammad said. ?She approached this year hungry and ambitious. She had a remarkable meet at Auburn and the decision to put her in the all-around was a good one, one that she earned and deserved.?

Burgin helped the team with a 9.7 on vault, 9.75 on bars, 9.7 on beam and a 9.625 on floor against Auburn. Burgin?s outstanding performances in the all-around and on bars led her to the medal stand. She earned third in the all-around with a score of 38.775 and tied for third on bars.
