Freshman Kristen O?Shields is the latest UK ?Gymnast of the Week? as chosen by the coaching staff. Osh, as she is affectionately known by her teammates has been a standout performer since her arrival at UK. This past weekend vs. Arkansas the freshman stepped up and helped the team record a 49.100 on the floor, the eighth-highest floor score in school history. O?Shields? 9.750 on the floor tied her career-high from last week?s meet vs. Bowling Green State. Right before her 9.750 on floor she added a first-place finish on beam to her resume with a 9.825. O?Shields continued to help the Wildcats by registering 9.725 on vault.

?Osh is doing a wonderful job,? said UK Head Coach Mo Muhammad. ?I think being a freshman carries with it its own complexities. However, she is handling them well and for the second competition in a row she has hit her routines and has strived to get better each opportunity. I am proud of what Osh is bringing to UK gymnastics.?

The Cartersville, Ga., native was also a top competitor in her collegiate debut against Bowling Green State. O?Shields helped UK to a convincing win over BGSU with solid performances on vault (9.750), beam (9.850) and floor (9.750).
