After suffering a frustrating 65-59 loss to No. 2 Kansas Sunday in Rupp Arena, Kentucky returns to SEC action and concludes a five-game homestand by hosting Vanderbilt Wednesday.

The Wildcats were a dismal 11-of-19 from the charity stripe and 6-for-26 from three-point range Sunday against the Jayhawks. Statistically, the Cats earned victories in rebounding, turnovers and steals, but couldn?t overcome a strong second- half which saw KU outscore the home team 44-34.

The Commodores ride a seven-game win streak into the game, which includes SEC wins over Alabama and Tennessee. Vanderbilt is shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 44.0 percent from deep this season.

Kentucky takes to the road for five of its next six games. UK faces Georgia in its first SEC road battle of the year Saturday before heading to Ole Miss, Tennessee, Arkansas and Vanderbilt. The only home contest in the stretch is a Jan. 22 battle with LSU on CBS.

Scouting the Commodores

The Commodores visit Lexington with an 11-4 overall record, 2-0 in the SEC. Vanderbilt has won seven games in a row. Its last loss came on Dec. 9, a 88-72 defeat at Cincinnati.

Mario Moore, the SEC Player of the Week after averaging 17.0 ppg and 5.0 apg, connected on 53 percent of his long-range shots against Alabama and Tennessee. He leads VU in scoring, averging 14.5 ppg this season. Corey Smith also averages double digits with 11.1 ppg off the bench.

Kevin Stallings is in his sixth season at Vanderbilt, owning a 96-73 record. Overall, he?s 219-136 after six seasons as head coach at Illinois State.
