The University of Kentucky softball team recently earned the highest cumulative grade point average by any of the 22 varsity athletic teams during the 2004-05 fall semester. Sophomore Ashley Fertic posted a perfect 4.0 academic score for the Cats.

?Our players really buckled down and prioritized correctly last semester and that was reflected by their performance in the classroom,? said first-year head coach Eileen Schmidt. ?We want to continue that academic success in the future.?

The Wildcats posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.37 for the fall semester. Junior Megan Glenn and sophomore Katie Campbell also posted excellent marks to bolster the impressive team average.
