Beach, Davis Earn Game Captain Roles: Junior tailbacks Arliss Beach and Draak Davis are the game captains for this week’s contest at Tennessee, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.
Game captains are selected each week based on their performance in the previous game and usually include one representative from special teams. Beach rushed for a season-high 69 yards in the win over Vanderbilt, including a 52-yard run that sparked UKs fourth-quarter comeback. Davis got the award for his special-teams performance. He returned two kickoffs for 49 yards against the Commodores and also made a touchdown-saving tackle on a Vanderbilt kickoff return.
Beach and Davis will join permanent captains Shane Boyd and Sweet Pea Burns at the coin toss.
Woodyard Out for the Tennessee Game: Freshman linebacker Wesley Woodyard will miss the Tennessee game after undergoing surgery to repair an ankle ligament.
Woodyard sustained the injury in the win over Vanderbilt. Woodyard ends the season having played all 10 games at strong safety, inside linebacker, and on special teams. He totaled 34 tackles, including a season-high eight stops at Mississippi State.
Woodyard will be the 18th UK starter or key reserve who has missed a game this season because of injury. Through the Vanderbilt game, 17 starters or key reserves have missed a total of 66 games this season because of injury.
UK Alumni Association Big Blue Tailgate Party in Knoxville: The UK Alumni Association invites all Wildcat fans to take part in the Big Blue Tailgate Party in Knoxville prior to the Kentucky-Tennessee football game.
The Big Blue Tailgate Party will be Sat. Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Knoxville Convention Center at 701 Henley Street.
Brunch will be served, including an omelet station, bagels, muffins, Danish, coffee, juices, and a cash bar. Music and entertainment will be available with performances by the UK Pep Band and the national champion UK cheerleaders. Blue-and-white pompoms and UK stickers will be given to fans as well.
