EL PASO, Texas. ?University of Kentucky senior, Matt Wells finished T-24th at the 30th Annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, at the El Paso Country Club in El Paso, Texas. After a rain delay Monday evening, Wells came back Tuesday to shot strong second and third rounds.
Wells finished solid, at 9-over-par 222 (77-73-72), moving up five places from Monday against a field of counterpart All-Americans from the previous year.
Georgia?s Nicholas Thompson and Texas? Matthew Rosenfeld both finished 9-under-par which resulted in a playoff. The Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic tournament title went to Thompson after he won on the first playoff hole against Rosenfeld.
Wells, a native of Wilmington, N.C., is just the second Kentucky golfer to participate in the field. John Holmes played in the tournament in 2002.
