The Kentucky men?s swimming and diving squad has moved up three spots to No. 12 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) rankings released this afternoon.
The Cats opened the season at No. 20 and jumped five spots to No. 15 in the Nov. 4 CSCAA rankings. Kentucky continues its climb up the rankings on the strength of dominant performances over the past two weeks against No. 14 Indiana, Southwest Missouri State and No. 24 Alabama. The UK men?s and women?s swim squads travel to Bloomington, Ind., this weekend for the Indiana Invitational, while the UK diving corps heads to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invitational.
UK Men Hold Top-Five Times in Three Events
Several members of the 15th-ranked Kentucky men?s swimming and diving squad rank favorably among the nation?s fastest swimmers, according to collegeswimming.com. The Cats boast top-20 rankings in 10 events. On the women?s side, junior Laura Graham and freshman Jenny Bradford have tallied solid times in the 50 freestyle and the 200 breaststroke.

The Kentucky swimming and diving program enjoyed what is believed to be the largest attendance for a home regular-season dual meet in the history of the program Saturday morning when fans packed UK?s Lancaster Aquatic Center to see the Cats defeat Alabama. Constructed in 1989, the Lancaster Aquatic Center provides seating for 750 spectators. The seating areas were filled throughout the meet, necessitating a standing-room-only environment for Kentucky?s first home conference meet of the 2004-05 season.
Fans are invited to pack the Lancaster Aquatic Center again for the Cats? next home meet on Thursday, Jan. 13, when the Cats play host to LSU. The meet is slated for a 5 p.m. EST start. Admission is free for all meets. The Lancaster Aquatic Center is located on Complex Drive and is adjacent to the Kirwan/Blanding dormitories and the newly-constructed Bernard Johnson Student Recreation Center.
