Women's Basketball

The Kentucky women?s basketball program has once again set season ticket records at Memorial Coliseum as over 4,000 season tickets have been sold for the 2004-05 campaign.

Last year, Kentucky hit new heights, selling 2,600 season tickets after only 140 had been sold the year before. The hiring of Mickie DeMoss, along with the excitement of building a championship women?s basketball program, boosted attendance as the Cats averaged 5,182 fans per game. UK ranked No. 1 nationally in increased attendance from last season (3,488 more than the 2002-03 average), ranked No. 2 (behind perennial power Tennessee) in Southeastern Conference attendance, and was 16th nationally in attendance average.

?We’re excited to see the community supporting UK Hoops again this season,? assistant athletics director for marketing Micheline Schott said. ?Selling over 4,000 season tickets prior to the first regular season game is a testimony to all of the hard work Coach DeMoss and her staff have put in to bring this program back to national prominence.?

?Hearing that thousands of season tickets have been sold and hearing the fans talk about the team and how they can?t wait for the season to start is one of the best things about coaching at UK,? DeMoss said. ?We are preparing for an exciting year and we appreciate our fan support so much. It is an important part of building a championship program.?

Kentucky?s schedule features 15 regular season home contests, including 13 games at Memorial Coliseum and three at Rupp Arena. The Cats play host to the West Coast All-Stars in their final exhibition game on Thursday, Nov. 11 and open regular season play in Memorial on Friday, Nov. 19 vs. Butler at 7 p.m. ET.

Season tickets cost only $20. To order season tickets, click on the Tickets link on ukathletics.com or call the UK ticket office at 859-257-1818 or 1-800-928-CATS (2287).
