LEXINGTON ? Freshman Chris Boggs was named the Kentucky Rifle Shooter of the Match for the season opener against Army.
Boggs, a Shelbyville, Ky., native, fired personal bests in both smallbore and air rifle to earn the honor from coach Harry Mullins.
He shot a 579 smallbore score which tied for the team lead with All-American Vicki Goss. Boggs followed that up with a 584 which was second to only Ray Geyer for the Wildcats.
Boggs and Kentucky return to action this Saturday when it hosts Ohio State in its 2004-05 home opener.
