The UK men?s and women?s swimming and diving squads open the 2004-05 campaign with the annual Blue-White meet Tuesday afternoon. The meet is slated for a 3 p.m. start at UK?s Lancaster Aquatic Center.

The blue and white squads will be evenly divided among 46 student-athletes. Juniors Steven Manley and Joanna McLean will coach the blue team, while seniors Daniel Cruz and Jessica Siegele will lead the white team.

The event will allow 17 Kentucky freshmen to get their first tastes of collegiate competition in a relaxed environment. The blue and white squads will participate in events not typically found in college meets, such as the 150-yard butterfly, 75-yard individual medley and 550-yard t-shirt relay events.

UK will play host to the Kentucky Relay Meet this Friday before participating in its first regular-season dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 23 against Michigan State.
