Kentucky senior All-American Jesse Witten won his opening-round match but was eliminated in the second round of the ITA All-American Championships Thursday afternoon in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Witten, the tournament?s third seed, scored an opening-round 6-3, 6-3 victory over Virginia?s Rylan Rizza before suffering a 6-3, 6-1 defeat to Shannon Buck of the Air Force Academy. Buck eliminated Witten in the first round of the same event a year ago.

Junior Tigran Martirosyan advanced in the consolation bracket with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Florida State?s Chris Westerhof. Martirosyan will take advantage of a second-round bye to advance to Friday?s third round.
