Kentucky senior Aibika Kalsarieva and sophomore Sarah Foster, the ITA?s third-ranked doubles tandem, took another step toward the top slot Saturday, defeating William & Mary?s second-ranked pair of Megan Muth and Amy Wei at the Kentucky Fall Classic at UK?s Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. Kalsarieva and Foster ran away with an 8-2 victory to capture the blue doubles flight title.
Senior Aibika Kalsarieva advanced to the finals of the blue singles flight with a 7-6 (1), 6-1 victory over William & Mary?s Megan Moulton Levy. She?ll meet William & Mary?s Megan Muth in Sunday?s final.
The red and white singles flights feature all-Kentucky finals. Sophomores Kim Coventry and Christine Simpson will do battle Sunday after posting straight-set wins in the red singles flight. Junior Danielle Petrisko and sophomore Joelle Schwenk will meet in the white flight final.
Coventry and Schwenk also claimed a doubles title Saturday, winning the white doubles flight by way of an 8-4 victory over Arkansas? Yawna Allen and Maryori Franco.
The Kentucky Fall Invitational concludes Sunday at the Boone Tennis Complex.
