LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky men?s soccer team looks to rebound from a heartbreaking loss when it travels to Buffalo Sunday for a 1 p.m. Mid-America Conference match with the Bulls.
Friday night, the Wildcats fell to No. 13 Michigan, 1-0, in overtime despite outshooting the Wolverines and forcing the action for much of the contest. For Kentucky (6-3-1, 2-0 MAC), the loss snapped a school-record tying seven-game win streak. Buffalo (6-3-1, 0-1 MAC) fell, 1-0, to No. 21 Akron on Friday.
?You have to fight through the loss. It?s a little bit of adversity,? said Kentucky coach Ian Collins. ?I?m confident that we?ll fight back. We?re a little stung right now, but it?s going to take a lot more than that to keep us down.?
Kentucky has owned the series in the past with six victories in seven meetings. However, the Wildcats last trip to Buffalo ended with a 2-1 defeat.
?We?ll see what we?re made of Sunday,? Collins said. ?It?s going to be a hard game. Buffalo is off to their best start in a few years and it has some talented players. But, I expect us to come back strong and to keep playing and see what we can do.?
Dating back to the beginning of the 2003 season, Kentucky has won eight straight games in conference action.
