LEXINGTON ? After scoring four goals in three games, Kentucky men?s soccer standout Jamal Shteiwi was tabbed as the Mid-America Conference Player of the Week and named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Shteiwi, a Cincinnati, Ohio, native, led the Wildcats to a 3-0 mark on the week with wins over Louisville, UNC-Asheville and Western Michigan.
The senior midfielder assisted on the game-winning goal against the Cardinals before scoring the winner against the Bulldogs. He tallied a pair of goals in Kentucky?s MAC-opening win over the Broncos.
It is the fourth time in his career that Shteiwi has picked up the MAC honor after winning it twice last season and once in 2002.
On the season, Shteiwi leads the conference in shots, goals and points while ranking second in assists. He has scored a goal in four straight games and has a point (goal or assist) in six straight dating back to last year. The point streak is tied for second longest in school history.
