LEXINGTON, Ky. ? University of Kentucky forward Sheray Thomas has been named to the Canadian Young Men?s National Team which will compete at the Global Games in Dallas, Texas, June 27-July 3. The team also will participate in the 2004 Under 21 Tournament of Americas in Halifax, Nova Scotia, July 28 ? Aug. 1.
The squad is coached by Dave Crook, head coach at the University of Winnipeg. The team, which has been training at the University of Guelph, departs for Dallas Friday. The round-robin schedule features a matchup with the United States squad on Sunday, June 27. The team plays Lithuania on June 29, China on June 30 and Croatia on July 2.
Thomas, a rising sophomore at UK, played in 23 games as a freshman for the Wildcats. He averaged 1.7 ppg and 1.1 rpg.
