University of Kentucky track and field seniors Ben Brewster and Thomas Morgan were named first-team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Brewster, who hails from Findlay, Ohio, has a 4.00 grade point average in biology. Morgan, who hails from Lexington, Ky., has a 3.667 GPA and is currently pursuing his master?s degree after earning his bachelor?s degree in finance.
Beth Heimann, a senior distance runner from Germantown, Ill., represented the women on the second team. She has a 3.71 GPA in elementary education, along with being a three-time All-American on the track. Morgan also holds two All-America honors as a distance runner and claimed the 2003 Southeastern Conference cross country title in November.
Brewster was one of three first-team selections with a perfect GPA, joining UMass?s Kwesi Frimpong-Boateng and New Mexico?s Mark Johnson. Brewster was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year for UK at April?s Catspy Awards.
