Several Kentucky divers of past and present are participating in this week?s U.S. Olympic Diving Trials in St. Peters, Mo.
Clayton Moss, a former two-time NCAA runner-up and 11-time All-American at Kentucky, advanced to the finals of the men?s three-meter springboard competition with a fourth-place semifinal score of 603.03. Moss would earn an Olympic team nomination by placing first or second on the three-meter springboard and finishing first or second in this evening?s three-meter synchronized event.
Another former Wildcat, Aaron Kirkpatrick, placed eighth on the three-meter springboard and also will advance to Friday evening?s finals. UK freshman Kari Retrum, the 2004 SEC Women?s Platform Diving Champion, took 17th place in the women?s platform diving event, and UK junior Jessica Thompson placed 18th in the three-meter springboard event.
