Lexington, (Ky.) ? Jean Balan finished in fourth place in the men?s 800-meter run as the Kentucky men took home a top ten finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional in Baton Rouge, La. The competition wrapped up on Saturday with the UK men scoring 24 points to finish in ninth place. The Wildcat women finished at No. 20, scoring 10 points.
Balan scored five points for his fourth-place finish in the 800 meters. Kristopher Landers also scored points for Kentucky in the event, finishing seventh.
Brooke Patterson led the Kentucky women on day two, running a career-best 2:05.64 in the 800-meter run, good enough for a seventh-place finish, scoring two points for the UK team.
As a team, Kentucky recorded four point-scoring performances, including Hunter Spencer?s seventh-place finish in the 1,500-meter run.
Southeastern Conference schools won both sides of the regional as the LSU women finished first with a score of 111. Arkansas was the top finisher on the men?s side with a 95-point performance.
