The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks broke open a no-hitter from UK hurler Gretchen Prugh in the eighth inning to record a 1-0 victory over the Kentucky softball team Saturday at the UK Softball Complex. The Lady Backs registered two hits in the extra inning of softball to come out on top of the scoreboard.

The Cats left four runners on base in scoring position through the first seven innings. UK threatened to win the game in the bottom of the seventh, as Meghan Cooper singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on an error from the UA first baseman. But the Lady Backs stuck out two of UK?s last three batters in the frame to send it to the extra innings.

Prugh was stellar in the game, going the distance while only giving up the two hits in the eighth. The freshman also struck out six.

Heather Schlichtman also tossed a complete game for the victory. She gave up five hits and struck out an impressive 14 batters. Kallie Foglesong, who scored the lone game in the game, went 1-for-2.

The Cats and Lady Backs will face off in game two in Lexington at 3:45. Live stats can be followed at www.ukathletics.com.
