NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? Kentucky juniors Jesse Witten and Tigran Martirosyan collected All-SEC honors Wednesday evening at the SEC Men?s Tennis post-season awards banquet.
Witten earned his third-consecutive first-team All-SEC singles selection, while Martirosyan, a Loyola Marymount transfer, took second-team All-SEC singles honors.
Witten, the ITA?s fifth-ranked student-athlete, compiled a 20-3 dual-match record and 9-2 conference tally. Martirosyan bumped up to the No. 65 ITA ranking from No. 103 on the strength of a 14-5 dual-match record and 8-3 conference showing.
The Cats will take Thursday off after earning a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament, which begins Thursday morning at Vanderbilt?s Brownlee O. Currey Tennis Center. Kentucky plays Friday at 8 a.m. CDT against the winner of the Alabama-LSU opening-round match.
