Cats to take on Eagles in intrastate battle

The Kentucky softball team is set to travel to Morehead on Wednesday to take on the Morehead State Eagles in a scheduled doubleheader. The Wildcats stand at 19-20-1 on the season and enter Wednesday’s game after dropping two of three at No. 18 South Carolina over the weekend.

The Eagles come into the contest sporting a 11-17 mark while having lost seven of their last 11 games. MSU sandwiched a 2-1 win around 5-1 and 11-0 losses to Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay.

Kentucky swept a doubleheader from Morehead last year in Lexington, winning by scores of 10-0 and 9-1. UK holds an impressive 14-1 all-time record against the Eagles. MSU has not won a game in the series since 1997, the inaugural year of the UK program.

The first game of Wednesday’s twin bill is slated to start at 3 p.m. (ET) at the University Softball Field in Morehead, with the second contest following immediately. Live stats of the game will be available at www.ukathletics.com.
