The Kentucky softball team returns to action on Wednesday, March 23, when they play host to the Louisville Cardinals in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. at the UK Softball Complex. The Cats notched a win over No. 6 Alabama over the weekend, beating the Crimson Tide for the first time in school history 7-5 on Sunday in Lexington.
The Cats (14-15-1) are led by Rachel Friberg and Meghan Cooper, who are each batting .321 through 30 games this season. Friberg leads the team in hits (27) and doubles (6), while Cooper has tallied an impressive 26 hits with 11 RBIs in 2004. UK has already posted the same number of wins in the Southeastern Conference as they did all of last season and are a mere two games away from matching their win total from the 2003 season with 27 games remaining.
UK leads the series with the Cardinals 8-3 in the all-time series. The Cats took two from UL (21-8) last year in Louisville, and have won five of the last six match-ups with the intrastate rival.
