The 18th-ranked Kentucky men?s tennis team (9-4, 2-1) goes for a weekend sweep Sunday when the Cats play host to No. 24 Arkansas (10-3, 1-2) at UK?s Boone Tennis Complex. Live scoring updates will be available for the 1 p.m. EST match at ukathletics.com.
The Cats are coming off one of their more impressive dual-match victories of the season, having dispatched No. 14 LSU on Friday by a 6-1 count in Lexington. Junior Jesse Witten, the ITA?s 15th-ranked student-athlete, posted his ninth-consecutive victory at No. 1 singles and could face quite a challenge Sunday in Arkansas? eighth-ranked Adrians Zguns. Witten defeated Zguns and Arkansas? 54th-ranked Nathan Price each in straight sets last fall on his way to the consolation bracket championship at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoors.
The Cats hung a 7-0 loss on the Hogs in Fayetteville, Ark., in their only meeting in 2003. Kentucky has surrendered only one singles match in its last three outings against Indiana, Murray State and LSU.
