Eva Gessner turned in the best showing of her senior season to lead the Kentucky women?s golf team to an eighth-place tie at the Waterlefe Invitational in Bradenton, Fla. Gessner shot a 76 on Tuesday to complete the three-round tournament in a tie for 12th place, the best finish for the senior in 2003-04.

Erin Faulkner also had an impressive showing at the Waterlefe Golf Club, as she shot a 54-hole tally of 235 to finish in a tie for 21st. Emily Culbertson came in five shots behind Faulkner in a tie for 45th, while Marissa Muir shot an 82 Tuesday to tie for 63rd place. Katie Dixon also competed for UK, finishing in 67th.

The Cats carded a final score of 942 at the invitational, 16 shots behind first-place Ole Miss. Adrienne Millican of East Carolina never relinquished the lead in the tournament, taking medallist honors with a score of 222.

UK returns to action on March 26-28 at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.
