BATON ROUGE, La. ? The Kentucky women?s golf team used its best round of golf in the final round of the LSU/Cleveland Classic to claim 13th place overall in the tournament. The Wildcats trailed Augusta State by one shot going into the day, but fired a 323 third round team total to overcome the Jaguars, who shot a 325. UK tied the University of Alabama-Birmingham with a 983 54-hole team total.
Kentucky?s Erin Faulkner was the Wildcats? top performer with a 241 three round total. Faulkner fired an 80 in the third round to finish two strokes better than teammate, Eva Gessner, who also shot a final day 80 on the way to a 243 total. Ali Kicklighter shot a team tournament low 79 in the third round and finished with a 248 total.
North Carolina took top team honors by shooting a three-day 903 behind Ashley Prange (215), who claimed individual honors as well. UNC finished three strokes ahead of second-place Tulane University (906).
The Wildcats return to action next weekend at the Waterfele Invitational in Bradenton, Fla.
