The University of Kentucky rifle team won the smallbore and air rifle event titles, and UK senior Bradley Wheeldon captured top individual honors in both events, giving the Cats a clean sweep of the Great American Rifle Conference Championships Saturday at Army?s Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.

Kentucky scored a 4637 in the smallbore event and a 1547 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 6184, beating out second-place Army by 14 points. Wheeldon, a six-time All-American from Eubank, Ky., led all competitors with an 1178 smallscore showing and 394 air rifle score, leaving him only six points shy of a perfect score in the latter event.

The Cats will take some time off before participating in the 2004 NCAA Rifle Championships at Murray State in two weeks.
