Sophomores Daniel Farnham, Jessica Thompson and freshman Kari Retrum earned spots in this evening?s finals with high marks in the preliminaries at the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia?s Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Farnham, a Mt. Berry, Ga., native, swam the 100-yard freestyle in 44.43, earning an NCAA ?B? cut and shaving .55 off of his Kentucky season high time. A comparable time drop this evening could challenge Shaun Zitani?s three-year-old Kentucky record time of 44.12.

Retrum won the preliminary women?s platform diving competition with a score of 421.10, while Thompson took fourth at 377.90.

Three Wildcats are slated for tonight?s consolation event finals. Sophomore Steven Manley will take part in the 200-yard individual medley consolation final after clocking a preliminary round NCAA ?B? cut time of 1:48.38. Junior Tim Patrick turned in a 45.04 for a spot in tonight?s 100-yard freestyle consolation final. Sophomore Laura Graham earned an NCAA ?B? cut time of 2:03.46 in the 200-yard individual medley to compete in tonight?s consolation event.

Coming later today are the 1650-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay events.
