Andy Roddick, bound for Rupp Arena for the Lexus Tennis Classic in December, will play host to the ever-popular Saturday Night Live on NBC this Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003.
Roddick, who became the world’s No. 1-ranked tennis player on Monday, will make his first appearance on one of television’s most popular programs, now in its third decade on the network. The 21-year-old star athlete will be the featured host along with musical guest Dave Matthews.
Game Seven Sports Marketing announced plans for Roddick to face another young gun on the world tennis scene, James Blake, on Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in Rupp Arena, the legendary venue’s first tennis event. The Lexus Classic, presented by the Lexington Tennis Club, also features a doubles match of Bob and Mike Bryan, the world’s top-ranked doubles team, vs. former UK stars Cedric Kaufmann and Greg Van Emburgh.
The $40 and $30 tickets for the lower arena are on sale at the Rupp Arena box office (859-233-3535), at all Ticketmaster locations and online at Ticketmaster.com. All corporate boxes have been sold.
