Head Coach Tubby Smith
On the effort of both teams…
“The guys really competed, especially the blue team. They reached down and never gave up (when they were behind). But with guys like Chuck and Gerald (on the blue team), I knew they would.”
On how he felt the team performed…
“They all did a good job, especially Patrick (Sparks). His shooting really got them going.”
On what was accomplished…
“We got accomplished what we wanted to get accomplished… The defense is ahead of the offense at this point.”
On why the score was left in a tie…
“We wanted to leave it at that. It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about getting better.”
On Shagari Alleyne…
“He’s very competitive. When he’s forced to do things, he can do them. He showed me that he’s got guts and savvy on the court. He altered shots and kept the ball alive. He does things like that.”
On Lukasz Obrzut…
“Early he was struggling, but he was aggressively taking the ball to the basket. We want him especially to rebound better and be more aggressive on the boards.”
On Patrick Sparks…
“He really takes care of the ball and gives us leadership. That’s why we wanted him to be a part of our team.”
On Chuck Hayes and Gerald Fitch getting the blue team back in the game…
“They’re supposed to do that. They did what they needed to do to get into the flow of the game. They missed some open shots, while the white team made theirs. That was the difference in the first half.”
