Upon a pair of strong weekend performances against LSU and Arkansas, Kentucky’s Elizabeth Ramsey has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, her first such honor.
The senior from Hilliard Darby H.S. in Hilliard, Ohio earned the award with a record-setting weekend. Friday evening against LSU, Ramsey found the back of the net for her 26th career goal. On Sunday, the second of Ramsey’s three assists against Arkansas pushed her past former three-time All-SEC honoree Annie Gage as UK’s new all-time career assists leader. Ramsey’s high arcing pass in the 92nd minute was the catalyst for freshman Elisabeth Jones’ golden goal against the Lady Razorbacks. Ramsey’s three assists on the day also tied the record she already shared with Keri Boyce and Kathy Fulk for most assists in a game. Ramsey’s 35 career assists are the most recorded by any UK men’s or women’s soccer letter winner.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Elizabeth. She continues to have quite an impact on our program,” UK Coach Warren Lipka said.
Ramsey, a starter in all 72 career games played, is a two-time All-SEC honoree and 2002 NSCAA All-Great Lakes First Team selection.
